Using an iPhone or a computer?

Safari on iPhone and iPad doesn't let websites vibrate the device, and most computers have no vibration motor. This test works in Chrome, Firefox and most other browsers on Android.

How the vibration test works

Each button asks your browser to switch the phone's vibration motor on and off in a set rhythm. The short and long buzzes check the motor starts and keeps running; the patterns check it can start and stop quickly, which is what notifications rely on.

Phone not vibrating?

  1. Check your sound mode. Some phones turn vibration off completely in silent, do-not-disturb or battery saver mode.
  2. Turn on vibration feedback in your phone's sound or accessibility settings. On Android, look for Vibration and haptics.
  3. Remove a thick case and hold the phone in your hand rather than on a soft surface.
  4. Restart the phone. If it still doesn't vibrate here or for calls, the motor may need repair.

Frequently asked questions

The page said it vibrated but I felt nothing.

Your browser accepted the request, so the problem is most likely a setting such as silent mode, or the motor itself. Try a phone call or alarm to compare.

Can I make the buzz stronger?

No. Websites can only switch vibration on and off; the strength is set by your phone.
