About FreeToolTest

Quick, free checks for the devices you use every day, with nothing to install.

What this site is for

When a microphone goes quiet before a meeting, a game controller starts drifting or a new monitor seems a little off, you shouldn't need to download software to find out what's wrong. FreeToolTest gives you a simple test for each of these in your browser, with plain-language guidance on what the results mean and what to try next.

How the tests work

Each test uses features built into modern browsers to talk to your hardware directly. Because everything runs on your own device, results appear instantly and your audio, video and sensor data stay with you. The privacy policy explains this in detail.

Some tests depend on what your browser and device allow. Where a feature isn't available, the page tells you why and suggests an alternative.

Free, with no sign-up

All tests are free to use, as often as you like, without an account.

Accuracy

The tests are designed for quick, practical checks. Readings such as sound levels or display measurements depend on your hardware and browser, and aren't a replacement for professional or certified equipment.
